Network Naming Conventions

nanog@nanog にあったサーバやネットワーク機器のホスト名にどのような名前をつけるかと言う話。最初は、機器のカテゴリ別で区切って、設置 POP 名区切ってとかで、いろいろなルールの話で。

• • interface_name.device_name.location_id.domain
  • CCCCSSTTEEE, i.e LTRKARHQR01
    • C = city location
    • S = State postal code
    • T = Street or differentiator
    • E = Equipment Identifier
  • tflns2-ge0-1-vl1.caneris.com
    • TF = Toronto/Front
    • LNS #2 = LNS #2
    • ge0-1 = interface
    • vl1 = VLAN 1

とかの流れだったのだけど、そのうちに流れが変わって、「おれのところ。こんなのだよ。面白いでしょ」という感じになった。みんな好きだよね。まとめてみると。
